Together for a world
free of injustice
ActionAid

We give hope. We bring change.

We are an independent international organisation that has been working, since 1972, against poverty and injustice all over the world. Together with the people participating in our programmes, we find solutions in order to improve life in their communities and make our world fairer.

We believe that all people have the same rights, which we must claim, as we all deserve to live in dignity. Experience has shown that the people living in the communities we support are capable of finding the solutions they need. Thus, we work side by side with them, without imposing any solutions.

We implement innovative programmes against the root causes of poverty and injustice, and we do not just provide temporary material relief. We give people the tools and knowledge that will make them independent, so they will no longer need help. These changes take time and this is the reason why our development programmes are long-term.

We work so that the most disadvantaged people, women, children, young people, persons belonging to minorities can claim justice and a better life. Our action is based on the mobilisation of people so that, by acting together, they can bring about the changes they want for their families, countries and the planet at large.

In 2021 we supported
3.3 million children
and adults
in emergencies

We work in more
than 45 countries

Together with the people we support, we find solutions that last.

We are committed to the pursuit of safety and transparency

Our number one priority is the safety of the children, women and men that participate in our programmes, as well as that of our volunteers and employees in Greece and all over the world. Our action is governed by strict policies and codes of ethics that ensure the protection of our people, transparency, accountability and proper management of our resources.
