What type of personal data do we collect?

We collect persona data (e.g. name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card number/bank account number, date of birth, tax identification number) and only to the extent this is necessary in each case.

By no means do we sell and/or share your personal data with third parties for advertising/promotion purposes. The only people who have access to these data are authorised members of staff/partners of ActionAid Hellas and ActionAid International in the context of their duties. When your donation is related to the Child Sponsorship programme, your details (first name, family name and address) may be used by the local office of ActionAid International in the respective country to enable your communication with the child you sponsor.

Access to some data may be granted to companies that work with ActionAid Hellas for the exclusive purpose of carrying out their duties. These include call centres, post office and courier companies, as well as internet providers, which also comply with high security standards in terms of protecting your personal data.

Our communication

Our communication includes regular updates on the actions of our office and/or any programmes you support. If you do not wish to receive information material in the future, please contact us.

You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, which we keep in our files (e.g. donation history).

The accuracy of your data is very important. If you believe that any part of your data is wrong, you may request that it is corrected or deleted. If you have any remark as to how we process your personal data, please contact the certified data protection officer of ActionAid Hellas (email: dpo.hellas@actionaid.org, tel.: 212 000 6300).

If you believe that your request has not been adequately satisfied and that the protection of your personal data is in any way at risk, you may contact the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, complaints@dpa.gr.

The time period during which we keep your personal data depends on the purpose for which they were collected. In general, personal data (e.g. payment receipts with the name, address, telephone number, donation amount, tax identification number, tax office) are kept for a period of 20 years after supporters have stopped contributing or after the end of the term of agreement in the case of members of staff, providers and partners, for tax and other audits.

Data related to the payment method (credit card and bank account details), which are not used for the aforementioned purposes, are deleted 2 years after the end of the support and/or the employment/services provision agreement. The data of our beneficiaries in Greece are kept for a period of 3 years. Any derogation from the said periods of time during which data are kept must be sufficiently justified. The supporters’ contact details are kept until they have informed us that they do not wish to be informed about the work and actions of ActionAid Hellas. Upon lapse of the period during which personal data are kept, the said data are deleted and/or destroyed.
