ActionAid International is a global federation with registered offices in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was founded in 1972 and is comprised of local offices situated in 45 countries, among which ActionAid Hellas.

It is governed by an international General Assembly and an eleven-member Board that is elected by the General Assembly. It is represented by one of its members in all national Boards of the countries where it works.

The international General Assembly votes for ActionAid’s global strategy, setting the basic priorities of its programmes globally.

In accordance with the 2018-2028 global strategy, the organisation’s priorities are as follows:

Address the structural causes of violence against women and girls and secure women’s economic justice.

Ensure increased civic participation and state accountability for the redistribution of resources and delivery of quality, gender-responsive public services.

Enhance sustainable agriculture that respects the environment and adjusts to climate change; strengthen and empower the most vulnerable, and ensure accountability of the rich countries that are responsible for climate change.

4

Drive transformative women-led emergency preparedness, response and prevention.
